Dear Naked Wines team,

Your e-mail arrived after your wine had arrived! I was not expecting a delivery so was well pleased. I immediately put 2 bottles in the fridge, my plans for an alcohol free day went out of the window.

My other half (Jenny!) was cooking Salmon tonight, oh dear, we just had to open one bottle. I must say that this is the very best SB from France I have ever tasted, a serious competitor to Marlborough SB’s from New Zealand.

I tasted the wine before food and thought very very good, with food, the wine is excellent. Please convey my thoughts and thanks to the wine maker, he has produced a most excellent wine.

 Kindest regards

David Onslow

  1. Dear Villebois team,

a lovely wine found at Delhaize (Brussels). At the bottom of the price range there, what a nugget! I quickly made it my ‘table wine’. It is very good, no…. it is very, very good. The balance is perfect, the taste smooth, flavour lively but not overbearing, a very classy wine.
Perhaps not the best sauvignon I ever tasted (ever tried the Monkey Bay from New Zealand?) but definitely my best among French sauvignon wines.

Continue the good work…I shall keep on pouring!

    Best regards
    Alain P., Brussels

  2. Villebois Sancerre 2010
“Delicious! Crisp, dry and flinty with a hint of fruit. Shared with a friend who also enjoyed every mouthful! Looking forward to to opening the second bottle I ordered.”

  3. Villebois Loire Sauvignon Blanc 2010
“Great, lots of elderflower and super crisp and light. Too drinkable for its own good”c

  4. Comment on: Villebois Loire Sauvignon Blanc 2009
“This wine has gooseberries and smokiness on the nose, whilst the palate is crisp and refreshing with white peach and hints of tropical fruit. Concentrated and minerally, it has a long and balanced finish.

There is enough ripe fruit here to enjoy this as a quaffing wine or an aperitif, but it will also match with food. We enjoyed it first with a simple starter of mozzarella and tomatoes garnished with fresh parsley and olive oil followed by a main of lightly-grilled trout fillets with smoked salmon and scrambled egg on the side.

For traditionalists, however, the classic match for a Loire Sauvignon is, of course, some local goat’s cheese.

In a blind taste test this has Champagne written all over it. Great wine, great price, will definitely be re-ordering.
