Comment on: Petit Villebois Sauvignon Blanc 2010
I enjoyed drinking this straight from the fridge and feeling the wine
develop with every mouthful.
Light, refreshing and dangerously drinkable when chilled.
Citrus fruit aromas begin to develop as the wine warms up and the
taste becomes sharper and pleasantly fruity with hints of lemon,
grapefruit and gooseberry.
Towards the bottom of the glass the nose has become more tropical and
the citrus flavours take on a more acidic note which is almost too
strong but in fact strangely moreish….time to top up again.
It’s at it’s best somewhere between chilled and 5 minutes later but on
a hot summers day it’s so perfectly drinkable you’d be lucky if
there’s any left by then.

To chill or not to chill that is the question. There is a school of
thought that straight from the fridge is to cold, but like you I feel
it allows the wine to develop in the glass and makes for a better all
round experience.

Jancis Robinson has been writing about wine since 1975 and is responsible for some of the most respected books on wine. She is wine correspondent of the Financial Times, the first non-trade Master of Wine and OBE. The Villebois Wines 2010 have been reviewed by her with impressive results.
Petit Villebois: "Very light, dry nose and no excess sweetness"
Villebois Sauvignon Blanc from the vineyards south of Blois on the banks of the Cher, "obviously expressive, really racy and lively; good balance.GV. Appetising".
Villebois Brut NV Crémant de Loire: "very clean and fresh. Aged and really very clean- just slightly chewy.Nice clean packaging".
"With respect for the "holy" French terroir Thierry Merlet managed to give a modern twist to this Villebois Sauvignon Blanc 2010. It resulted in a fresh original wine which will especially please sauvignon blanc winelovers from new Zealand. Exotic, juicy with a goosberry uptick and a little steel to compliment it.
