About Villebois
The Sauvignon blanc grape has been planted in the Loire Valley since the 18th century. Winemakers who treat this grape with due respect reap their rewards through the production of one the world’s most exciting white wines.
La Chardoise, which is located in the very heart of the Loire Valley, has magnificent sauvignon blanc vines.
La Chardoisie: Located close to the left bank of the Cher river, which is a tributary to the river Loire. Here, the soil is incredibly calciferous, made up of millions of fossilized oyster shells from the ancient shallow sea that once covered France. This soil gives rise to the brilliant crisp flavours of the region’s white grapes and in particular sauvignon blancs like the one made by La Chardoisie.
